Default Explorer Tranny??

OK......it is not a Mustang Question, but an Explorer is really close

My '04 Explorer slams in and out of gear everytime it shifts up. I thought to check the fluid, but there is no way to add to it (and it is an automatic BTW)

Any ideas??

if there is no fill plug.. I'd roll underneath and look for a fill plug which often with the car running you remove plug and see if fluid dribbles out

I'm not familiar with explorer's but i would imagine it's like every other auto. Skinny funnel and add fluid where the dipstick is.

OK...I am not 100%, but these to plugs are the only ones that I see.........Which fill plug should I open, the top one or the bottom one?

And if I run the car with the plug off, and it dribbles.....what does that mean? Should it not dribble??

Here is a pic of the plugs under the car:

No dipstick [:@] I guess it is a closed system like a manual........When I called Ford, they said that it should not be doing this, and that there is no way to check the fluid. They want to pull the codes......I said, let me hit the Mustang Forums first

I'll get under there tomorrow morning.....it is too dark outside

But that slamming in gear is a sign of low fluid?? I always had manuals and never felt anything like this in an automatic

I tell you, when it is in park standing still, I will put in in reverse, and it feels like the tranny is going to be laying in the street the way it slams in [:@]

Be patient with me. The only time i've had a transfer case is in a four wheel drive. My f-250 has one, my silverado had one. Is this four wheel drive or all wheel drive? I'm not doubting you guys at all, i'm trying to learn something about this vehicle.
