OBD Scanner
OK....my buddy has an OBD I and II Scanner.......and I plugged it in to both my 04 Explorer (to check my tranny problems, it came up with no codes).......and then the OBD I to the Mustang....
When I started it up, it read, "Reading Codes" and it ran my motor up high, then low.....started blowing black smoke out the pipes......and then it reset to the main menu, and brought the car back to normal.
During the test the check engine light was going on and off, the idle was going up and down....but in the end, it reset without telling me nothing [:@]
Is this normal? Should I try something different?? I have no expereince with pulling codes..........

RE: ODB Scanner
Not sure the type.....but after the test, it did nothing but reset and go back to the main menu.
I am wondering if the scanner just crashed, or if there was nothing to report

RE: ODB Scanner
If it was an older Snap-On scanner, (I'm going off memory here) you have to go to the retreive fault codes from the menu. If that screen is empty there is no codes. If it one of those part store bought ones who the hell knows, they usualy don't tell you crap.

I think that it just went empty.....I think my car shorted it out or something.....reminds me of a Windows computer I tell you, after it was all done, my alarm started doing some wierd things. I had to disconnect my battery for a half an hour to let it reset....
