Bought a saleen wing for what was supposed to be for a convertible, but i think its actually for a hatch, but im not quite sure. How can i tell if its supposed to be for a hatch or convertible.

Put it on the car, it should only bolt on the trunk lid. On hatch cars, the hatch covers the whole top of the quarters, a coupe truncklid go inside of the quarters so the spoiler will be a little narrower.

 

the one in your pic is for a coupe.. it sits flat..I have one on my coupe.. the hatch won't sit flat

That is definitely a notch/convertible wing. I think there is 2 styles between them though a notch wing for 87-93 has the 3rd brake light mounted in the wing like a hatch. The vert wing will have an indentation to fit over the verts 3rd brake light. I have the vert style on my notch and added the vert style 3rd brake light to my trunk.
