97 mercury mountaineer 5.0
I am hoping someone can help me on this i am not the greatest when it comes to late 90's 5.0's i have a mountaineer 5.0 i was planning to put into the 93 coupe, i was wondering what tb i would have to use and what headers work the best? I have a 4 cyl. auto, I have the pedals, cluster, console, ecm, harness, full exhust except the headers, electric fan bigger radiator, lowering springs, an 8.8 with a 3.73 gear.
I know i have to change the timming cover and assesories which i already have, I am wondering what sensors to use what throttle body and if anyone can tell me what flywheel starter and bell housing i need? A ford technician told me it was a 4.6 bell housing and i think he is right i measured the trans that came out and i had a 4.6 in the shop it measured the same, I have a t-5 bell housing and i am going to be buying a t-45 cheap today so i should be covered on the transmission part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would get an aftermarket 65mm throttle body, I would get a 89-93 computer and wiring harness with matching sensors, basically you just be using the Mountanier lond block to the intake and thats it

the long block should bolt right in and you know the swap items neccessary to make it work... you may also have to transfer over your bung where the oil filter screws onto also

I picked up that t-45 today and the bell housing is close, but i think the starter is too low, luckily my friend has his drag car pulled apart and i put his new flywheel and lake wood schatter sheild on to mock up the fit and it looks perfect. So i will get rid of the t-45 and keep my t-5, and yes i have the stock sensors and harness, and i will have to change the oil filter housing bung due to the oil cooler on the mountaineer thanks for all your help guys.
