Default what cam should i go with?

ok i tolk my mustang on a trip to spokane about 200 miles round trip. on my way home it started runing like **** like it was missing. got home checked the timeing it was good, checked plugs wires cap and roader witch i just replaced all of them. i found nothing rong but it still runs like **** so im going to pull the heads and do head gaskets, port and polish, valve guidesi would like to get a cam and springs. im also wanting to do this to see what kinda shape the motor is in. ill also rebuild the carb and replace all the vacume lines. i dont know mutch about how to chose a cam so what cam and springs should i use?

unless u know its a head gasket..or i guess if u wanna pull them...id figure out what the problem was before i just pulled it all apart..it could be something simple..and still be there when u put it all back together.

you really need to troubleshoot the problem ..cause if you do all that work and put it back together and it runs like crap with a new motor you'll throw your hands in the air.... you should always start a rebuild after you know what the prob is if it's a internal mech problem or start with a known good base...if you believe it runs rough due to a internal issue.. peform a compression test = quick and simple
