I already have a 98 GT,always wanted a 88-93 notch though. I took a back road today and found an 88vert 5.0 w/77k miles. Decent condition, one tear in the cover, no rust, faded paint, overall decent shape. He's asking $1,300 obo, I was thinking about offering $1k cash. I've not spoken to him yet, I'm about to go see if I can take it for a spin.

Initial thoughts? $1,300 reasonable for an 88 vert? I've never really liked the way the vertslook until I saw r.barns 351W. What year is that by the way?

really good price. youre in cali? probably needs a **** ton of work to pass emissions. car with that low of miles and no rust would get at least $2500 out here though

 

is it auto or 5 speed?? I really want a 5 speed gt vert!!

Asking 1300, it's junk.

 

If it's automatic, which most of the verts were, the transmission is/will blown up.

 

Wow, so much negativity!![&:] Maybe the guy just wants to unload it or doesn't know what it's worth.

 

My AOD never blew up..

 

I burnt up a C4 in a 69 mustang the day I got it.
I burnt up an AOD in an 89coupe within a month or two of getting it.
I burnt up an AOD in an 87 crown vic on the first trip I made from Philadelphia to Long Island.

I wasn't driving these cars hard either. I'm a little paranoid of automatic transmssions!

 

Wow, I've had numerous cars over the years and never once had a problem w/ an auto. I think it's clear where the problem lye's!!
