Alright guys, lately, my car just hasn't been running right. It drives fine, idles fine, but when im gettin into it, even a little, it just seems like it isn't "all there". I have a very very very once in a blue moon back fire..happened twice tonight, both times on revs (one rev was to downshift, the other when i got home). I had a belt/accessory drive problem, it was my tensioner, now that is all fixed, but still the car doesn't seem to be all there.

My dad things it's a timing problem, is that all it is? Fuel filter? Air filter? And after I shut it off, this only happens sometimes, but there will be a little knocking from the engine..it scares the sh*t out of me, what is it?

Can you post a vid or sound clip of the knocking sound?
Otherwise sounds like a full tune-up is needed.

 

changed the oil and now the knocking sound is gone...she runs fine when driving,but at cold start ups, she STRUGGLES to idle, like dips to 300 then revs herself back up, whats the fix? i'm thinknig fuel filteR?

 

Yea I would do the fuel filter, its cheap and easy. I remember after I did my plugs/wires/cap I started getting a little knock from engine, turned out the number 2 spark plug was loose. Not saying this is your case but might as well check your spark plug/wire connections.

 

yeah, i already checked all of my connections, they are all fine...im thinking either fuel filter or sending unit..i can just tell shes not running right while driving her

 

What about the PCV valve and grommet...ever changed that out?

 

Might as well repalce PCV vavle, i think it cost me 3 dollars and change.

As for fuel filter, i'd definently give it a shot, and run some fuel injection cleaner thru it just to clean some of the crap out if you havnt already.

 

still running like crap, put the cleaner in it, didn't do anything..idles bad, and when i acclerate hard in a gear its like there are two gears in the gear..it goes really slow at first, then ill hit like 3k or soemthing, and it picks up..tomorrow im gonna disconnect the battery and reset the computer and see what that does, if nothing, then next weekend will be fuel filter..

 

reset the battery, did nothing...car still running bad...im gonna take it to my buddy next weekend and have him look at it

and when im accelerating hard in say 2nd or 3rd gear..you guys know when an auto is slipping? thats what happens...itll rev up, then like catch at a few RPMs lower...my tranny is fine...why is this happening? any ideas?
