Default CLUTCH REPLACEMENT????

Hey i think the clutch is starting to go on the 5.0
What do i need to replace and what do i need to do it and how much?

I see all these kits but to fix the clutch all i should need is a new clutch pad, right? I shouldnt need a pressure plate. How much is just a pad?

Probably just buy a whole clutch kit, comes with the disk, pressure plate and alignment tool usually. Then buy a good throwout bearing and pilot bearing and get your flywheel resurfaced and you should be good to go, isn't really a hard job.

edit: also like people said it's really a good idea to replace the rear main seal since they tend to leak all the time on these cars, and check the bearing retainer for wear and replace if necessary. Should be good to go for many years then.

Is this a DIY level thing or should a shop be called in for it?

your going to want to get a new pressure plate with the clutch, your just shooting yourself in the knee if you keep the old one on there

It's really not a hard job, it just takes a lil especially if you don't have the perfect tools for it. I'd suggest having an extra person there to help...
