Water and air have different properties though, either way it would be minimal even with the garden hose.

As for why dumps are louder, I think it has more to do with the exhuast coming out under the car, not so much that b/c of lack of pressure. Tailpipes just control the sound and allow it to exit out the rear rather than resonating under the car.

i like dumps which i think ill be going back to. my tail pipes every so often tap my frame rails and its really annoying. plus removing the exhaust takes that much less time and you can access other stuff easier without messing with your damn exhaust.

dumps FTW.

although i will say an LX needs tail pipes cause it just looks sexy with them.

i had dumps when i bought my car. it was loud and sounded good.
then i put the tailpipes on and added a catless hpipe and headers.
sound level was the same then but it sounded "smoother"
as soon as my cars driveable again im getting dumps put back on tho.
I'd rather have it be louder now that i have power to back it up.

I have dumps on my car because its a GT and I think with the full exhaust on the GT's it looks stupid and its not like performance is affected by a foot or 2 of pipe, but if I had an LX I would probably run full length.

I have LT's and a 3in off road x. I had pipes on then cut them off. It does sound meaner without them, but the fumes are strong. I kept my ss tail pipes in case i ever change over. I'm going to get new weather stripping all the way around since mine is worn pretty bad, i heard that can help with fumes. I'm waiting for the day i get stopped. I dont have a tank so all you can see other than my fuel pump is the exhaust.
