Default Probably a stupid question

I'm certainly sure that I'm not the only person dealing with this. Before I swap out my old plugs for new ones, does anyone have a good trick to clean the area without spraying anything or getting anything into the internals. I just want to clean out the area a bit before I put new plugs in without causing any more issues.[sm=outcold.gif]

Thanks.

You can just spray brake/carb cleaner. Why wouldn't you want to? They both evaporate fairly quickly. Otherwise, wire brush, scraper, rag, anything really.

be careful with carb cleaner, anything you get it on that has paint will peel. i did that once on my old engine and the valve cover paint got eaten away.

Get some engine degreaser from Autozone or whatever you have there, spray it on before you remove plugs, and hose it off, wait til dry, then swap plugs. If thats what you mean, I guess. If you mean theres some surface rust or something... +1 to the brush

you probably don't have one but they make special spark plug cleaners but as cheap as a set of autolite plugs are....I'd just buy a set

Im not trying to clean the plugs, just the surface area around it, lots of dirt and grime and what not, I'll give the engine degreaser a try.

Never thought of something like that.

+1 on the degreaser. I used super clean on my engine. Worked great. Just sprayed everywhere and hosed it down 10 min later.
