Default who says exhaust doent lower time?

i saw an arguement on here about exhaust and it not lowering peoples times... i just added an o/r h and thrush glasspacks to my car.... before i did this my best time was 13.76@99.5 with a 1.9 60ft... i just got back from the track with the new setup and my best was a 13.61@101.9 with a 2.0 60... not to shabby... now i need traction to dig low in...

I didn't notice any real gains by installing a full exhaust...

you have to keep in ind what i was working with... my car has 163k on it and still had the factory cats... pretty gummed up... plus the weight loss... it now had no cats, and the tail pipes and heavy mufflers are gon and replaced with glass packs...

Yeah but a lot of people that do exhaust don't have gummed up cats...

gummed up or not, cats are very restrictive...especially when there is 4 of them... i dont seehow anyone could see NO gain from an exhaust on a stang.

The gains i saw may have been exhaust or they may have been driver improvement. That's how small it was.

Good exhaust has power that's realized when the rest of the engine is opened up.

By looking at your 60ft, you could easily see a 13.4ish time pulling the same 1.9 60ft you did before. That's nearly 4 tenths from what you were. Nice improvement! It's silly to not believe your going to gain power from a exhaust, those who think otherwise are just ignorant. The factory exhaust setup is not the most free flowing setup there is. Especially on the Cobra which has the GT40 top end on it. You got lots of air going in, not enough coming out. It's typical to see a 10-15hp gain from a complete exhaust setup. Especially if your removing your cats.
