i dont know if i should post this here, it has to do with a 5.0. well i recently boought an 89 omni... i wanted to some how make the thing fast but not sure about front wheel drives and what not. i have my old 5.0 old motor and was wondering what it would take to drop it in that little omni and have one hell of a sleeper. i know traction is number one so im lookin for an 8' posi rearend to throw under it, cage it, slicks, i got a nice set of american racing rims, run some new gas lines and brake lines(it needs it) somehow finding a way to put some subframe connectors on it maybe? im jsut brain storming this just to see what all i need and what not. i got a welder so im good in that department, i know a fella who has a pipe bender for the cage, hed probably do it for cheap. my 5.0 has brand new spark plugs, wires, distibutor(the whole thing) alternator, got a t5 strapped to it jsut need a clutch(sold my stage 1 when i pulled it). so what are your guyses thoughts. any suggestions, .02 cents, what not would help, lets bring this little dream to life

i know that but with a 5.0 in it, it could be a SUPER omni... and it was just a thought so any other help?

 

[sm=icon_rock.gif]dude a omni wit a 5.0 that would be sweet gonna take alot of fab work but it would be worth it keep us posted if you decide to do it

 

Why not just buy a cheap notch 4 banger or just the shellfor about $500 and do the swap, would look much nicer and your friends wouldn't roast you.

 

true but how would you feel if you got outrun by an omni........ i still think it would be a cool project

 

hey now don't rip on the omni's, i once smoted a fox 5.0 5-speed with a stock omni 5-speed, granted now he jumped the gun and spun his tires, but six blocks later he finally caught up when i shifted to 5th gear
