hello im new to this so bare wit me, i got a 1989 mustang gt 5.0 and wen i try to push down the clutch it drops to the floor and it doesnt engage, any idea what this could be, thanxxx

 

sounds like your clutch cable snapped, get a new one, might be a good idea to get a new quadrant too

 

check either end of the cable for breakage

 

yea, its weird it dnt seem like the cable snapped it real stiff wen i go to push it down then it just snaps and drops to the floor and then it clicks as i slowly bring it back up, is there some kind of mechanism borken or something, thanxxx

 

the clicking you hear under the dash is the self adjusting mechanism and most likely the stiffness it a result of a frayed cable catching on the nylon sheath contained with in the cable that surrounds the cable and acts as a channel / guide for it... most likely a cable issue. but inspect it first

 

thanxx for the help mann, much appreciated, i juss started doin this forum ****, i got a pretty nice 89 gt. 5 speed black xterior flowmaster 2.5exhaust h pipe3.73 gears short shifter elimated ac and i got the 4 inch cowl hood for it soo far i only paid 1600 for itoff my buddy and this my project for the next year, doing the whole motor etc., but yah thatnx alot man have 2 shoot the **** more often got work in the mornin, lataaaa.
