SSP fox
The other day i was talking to my girlfriend about fox mustangs, and she mentions a mustang that she has in a shed behind her house. I was like WHAT MUSTANG?!?!?!
apparently her father has a couple of secret projects goin on, and when her parents split he left them at her mothers house. I went and to check out the mustang and it turns out to be a 87-93 SSP fox. I only got to look at it because there was so much clutter in the shed and no place to get around, but i intend on gettin a better look under the hood, and hopefully at the VIN #'s. (theres also a 66 shelby cobra in there too) She just got her liscense a couple of weeks ago, and with summer comin up and school out, I might have a little more time to get it runner for her. Any advice or stuff i should know about the SSPs if this is one?

From what i know about ssp's, no additional power, larger charging system, some suspension work. I'm sure there are more little things that are different. I've never been fond of them because they get beat to **** and everything is loose and rattles plus because of the novelty of having an ex cruiser people buy and sell them for way too much.
Should have a badge on inside door jamb. They have oil coolers, silicone coolant hoses and some extra bracing. I think they had 160mph speedo and 130 amp alt. They also had extra grounding straps and a different fan clutch to provide better cooling at idle and low speeds
ok
my gf got a NAPA battery for free. Last night I went over to put it in and her father had a smaller battery (2/3 sized) in (to save weight i suppose) and had fabricated an "L" shaped brace to hold it in place, held in by rivets. He has removed the plastic pieces on the side that would hold normal sized batteries in place and even if removed I dont know how the new battery is gunna be kept there.
Ive only had a little experience with mechanical work. The car has been sitting for a good 14 years, so I was planning on doing a oil change, fresh gas, ect. before getting it started anyways.
any suggestions about the rivets??
I would post pics, but i dont have a cell or a digital camera. hahahaa
possibly when its finished
thanks for the help

IM SO PISSED OFF
this blows. Its over now, cuz she talked to her dad, and apparently even tho he gave her the car, he doesnt want anyone screwing with it.[>:] All I was going to do was get it running so she would have a car to drive. I mean yeah it would suck on gas, and insurance would be a pain, but hes just being difficult just to be that way. Its true that he knows the most about the car and its problems, but that doesnt mean HE cant help her get it running.
I might end up taking pictures of it anyways, just because it was cool.
we even began making measurements to see if it would fit through the sliding door.

well, the shelby is nowhere near complete. Its sitting up on lift, its basically just a shell. There's random parts strewn around the shed that would have gone in the car, and when he left he didn't get to finish it. The 289s sitting on a stand in the corner. Theres no way its getting finished EVER.
I dont know why he wont let her touch the SSP. He specifically told her that it was her car now when she got her license. Its been awhile in the starting on the work, but we finally began to get it goin and he tells her he doesnt want us touching it. [X(]
he does come back to the shed when nobody's home and tinker with things, but only about once every few months.
