No, a stroker kit does not have to be over bored. 331's and 347's are typicaly 4.030", but you you can order the kit/short block for the standard bore of 4.00" which would make a 327 or 342. But in most cases the by the time the blocks are stroked there are many miles on them and they need to be bored. And there is no reason to go with a 331 and not a 347.

a stock 5.0 is at right about9.0 to 1

yes a 331 is a stroked crank

stock is 3.00 stroke

a 331 is a 3.250 stroke

a 347 is a 3.400 stroke
alright good, thank you.

and also what is a good compression ratio to run with about an 18 psi kenne bell?>

Yeah i know lol, i actually bough tthe fox in my sig about a year and a half ago and all i have got done is a little bit of body work. My dad is going in 50/50 with me on everything including work lol. He's a car guy just as much as me and loves going fast. But thats why im selling that because its so far gone and putting mroe money into my base car so i have agood foudnation to work off of. The one im trying to get already has about 320hp lol so that will have to do for now!

I'm putting historic tags on it and putting it on some type of insurance thats cheap as dirt but i can only drive it so many miles a year. The motor is a brand new crate motor with only about 300 miles on it, so i dont think i'm going to beat it into a rebuild any time soon.

in terms of a 331 vs a 347 i have just heard too many horror stories about 347's cracking and splitting under boost, and i just dont want that to happen to me.

ummm...dude 18psi from a kb that is not gonna last at all with the stock block.if u are seroiusly thinking about running that much boost with a built motor u need to be buying a dart, man o war, boss,r block or something stock wimpy 302 2 bolt mains are not gonna last at all

i think u need to rethink what u are doing and how much hp cause just a good block with the needed machining is gonna be another 1500-2500 bucks and then no turning back and for that much boost def. want to throw in a stout forged bottom end dude or[sm=bangbang.gif]..................................or youll be kickin yourself in the *** and pickin up pieces of your motor off the ground.
