I thought about going the 9" route too. After researching and realizing how expensive it could get and how the 8.8 built properly can get into 9's, I just stayed with my 8.8

One more thing I forgot is that the 9" doesn't bolt up to the Mustang driveshaft without a new companion flange (attachs driveshaft to pinion flange)and a different U joint.I used the 9" in my '83, But it was put together quite a few years ago (about 15)and everybody thought 8.8's were GOLD or something then.
When I put the '93 together in '99there was a much better availability of parts by then.
Besides the '93 came w/ a 8.8 and I already had the four lugDraglite wheels.
Did I mention that the 9" requires New Wheels Too!(five lug) at least on the Fox body cars.

almost anyone who builds their rear end swaps to 5 lug conversion, that shouldnt play a factor, my 8.8 is good for 9s no problem, its handling 600RWHP and 611RWTQ right now, end of this season it will handle close to 900RWHP, just build it and build it right

I used the 11/16" drive studs(stock is 1/2")on my '93 (4 lug), plenty strong enough for whatever abuse I've been able to dish out.Eliminates those stupid lug nuts with the long shank on them (definite weak spot).
