FINALLY back together... (NOW WITH PICS!)
Well, I finally drove my car tonight. It seemed as if fate was stacked against it all winter / spring.
Here's the list from this round:
Lincoln Mark VIII fan (completely de-ribbed, smoothed, and narrowed, I was planning to do a write up on this if there is any interest)
Flex-a-lite fan controller
Fluidyne radiator (VERY tight fit with the Lincoln fan)
Narrowed stock radiator brackets
BMW synthetic coolant
Mr. Gasket Thermocap
170A 3G Alternator (rebuilt it myself, upped the output, and machined the Fox pulley for stock belt size and overdrive output... 2 12s as loud as I can get 'em, the fan on, fogs on, and blower on high and still about 14v charging at idle)
2 awg wire
Aluminum transmission crossmember bushings
Prothane tranny mount
Crimestopper alarm (fully soldered to harness.. No scotch locks/flying splices/butt connectors)
89 GT tilt wheel and column (I'm 6'4".. Screw an air bag)
New PS Pump
Smog eliminator pulley
Now the fun part... All accessory brackets, alternator case, tensioner, and smog eliminator were sand blasted and powder coated silver or black. Black for steel, silver for aluminum. What I couldn't powder coat I painted.
As soon as I get it cleaned up I'll take some new pictures. It's sure a lot prettier under the hood since last year.
Pics:
General condition of things "before"
Fluidyne radiator and smoothed Mark 8 fan mounted up and finished
Everything assembled and done
Not much fan to water pump clearance. The fan shroud is narrowed 5/8", the radiator brackets are shortened by 1/4" and the pump pulley is on with button head allen screws. It's still really close.
If you look carefully, you can see my 2awg alternator charge wire and fuse box mounted under the battery tray. The fuse box is from an '98 S10. With a little trimming it was perfect for the 'stang battery box. 250A fuse inside. The cluster of blue and brown wires in the back ground are for the alarm siren and hood switch. I haven't quite finished that up yet. Also note that I didn't touch the A/C compressor yet since the system is working pretty well. Maybe when I pull the motor I'll detail it out and convert to 134a.
Shot of the new PS pump, stripped of its horrible black paint, mounted in the powder coated bracket. Also, Mr. Gasket Thermocap.. SOOO handy for adjusting the fan controller that it's worth every cent of what I paid for it.
Fan controller mounted to stock MAF holes. I actually have a sheet of stainless to mount it on, but I got lazy and in a hurry. Maybe next year?
If you like the color of the accessories (it actually has a bit of metal flake in it) Duplicolor wheel paint is a VERY close match for my powder coat. I used it to paint the PS pump and you can just BARELY tell a color difference. Also, my Cobra upper and lower will be powder coated the same color shortly. Just need to sandblast and tank them first.

RE: FINALLY back together...
Naaa.. I'm trying to build my car from the basement up in the hope that I'll have fewer problems in the long run and more time with a running car.
Next up is suspension and gears... Finally moving into the stuff that really makes an impact in how the car drives.

RE: FINALLY back together...
It's going to rain here for the next 6 straight days. I can take some dirty pics and post 'em I guess.
Here's a teaser of the radiator and fan setup before final finishing and paint.
