Could someone decode my VIN?
Hello,
Could one of you who has a book decode my VIN for me? I've been looking on the internet for information on my mustang, but I can't find anything more then just the very basic stuff. Any help would be great. Here it is - 9F03W338275

RE: Could someone decode my VIN?
Its a vin for a 79 ford mustang hatchback built in dearborn michigan. That vin still seems incorrect though since I think 9 should be 69. I may be way off on all this though. That vin is from back before there was 17 digit vins.

RE: Could someone decode my VIN?
Hello,
It is a 1979 Mustang hatchback. I know it was made in dearborn and it originally had the 2.3 liter turbocharged. That is about all I could find out about. The vin number is complete. It wasn't till later that vin numbers went to seventeen digits. The additional digits are only a serial number. What I am really wondering is how I could tell if it is a cobra or not. All the interior pieces are gone that would have carried the cobra badges. It has the cobra hood scoop, but that could have been put on sometime in the last 30 years. I know that the 2.3 liter with the turbo were one of the options that came with the cobra and the pace car. I just need to know how to tell the difference. Is it just that the cobra was a trim package? If you were to put all the appropriate decals and badges that it would be a cobra. I just can't find out what exactly makes a 79 cobra a 79 cobra.
