^^^yeah it does...I can put my t-5 in myself.. when I removed my DOA from the 85 that pig weighed twice as much and I needed a tranny jack

 

bone stock vs bone stock with decent drivers the stick will outdo...

my preference is i would take a stick over an auto anyday......my feelings...

 

I've done my share of street racing(long time ago, I don't do it anymore). 100% of my racing was done with a manual trans because basically I hate an automatic in a performance car.

IF and I repeat IF the driver of the stick car knows how to drive, I'd put my money on the stick car. I think a good stick driver can get out of the hole much faster than an automatic.

Back when I used to street race I beat many cars that were probably faster than me because I got them out of the hole and they just couldn't catch me in time.

Bottom line in my opinion is that it really comes down to the skills of the driver.

I have a 5speed so I have to hold true...

 

yes stock for stock a 5sp
but when you start putting money into the tranny the good ol' saying becomes true.
"5speeds impress high school kids, auto's win races"

 

auto is 4 girls and prostreet cars

 

I would take a well built auto with a good stall over a stick any day of the week. much easier on parts more consistent at the track and funner and safer to drive on the street or track with a big boost motor. or any big power adder.

 

my 87 gt is an auto and i love the performance i get out of it. but on the other hand a manual transmission is funner to drive in my opinion.
