oh i see, well hopefully I will be buying one within the next couple weeks, here is a 91 that I really like that I am leaning towards right now, but the 88 is really clean. so I pretty much have 4,000 to spend, and I was thinking spendind around 3,000 for a car, then spend the other 1000 on new parts.

not saying you'll be a bad driver, but that traction lock will lock up real quick

85 best 81 with 255 worst!!!
85 best 81 with 255 worst!!!
I also have an 83 gt with a mild 5.0 and it WILL kick the 81's ***
1979-1984 5.0 : Non-roller Motor w/ restrictive exhaust
Note: 1979 Cobra and 1982GT Very collectible
1985GT-1986GT 5.0: Roller HO motor with factory headers
Note: 1985GT Collectible due to being first year of the HO roller motor.
1987GT- first year of the aero nose (ehh dont really care for them due to the speed density factor) Note: Last year for the t-top option
1988-93 for an areo nose I do like these. 93 best since it was the last before the body change.
T-top Coupes are the hardest to find and if you find one get it.
Coupes of any year are getting very hard to find.
If it were me and I was 16 again.. I would be looking for a 1982GT to keep forever and just build the motor a little. If I couldnt get a 82 gt I would get a 85 or a 93.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah, just be careful.. i was dumb and thought i could drive my mustang when i first got it and ended up hitting a curb because my lights sucked and i was to lazy to fix them. (didn't even see the median)
I love my fox, my first car as well... but keep in mind it might not be very reliable.
I thought mine would be, but it broke down on me and i couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so it sat for a month or 2.
it burned oil and started tapping, so now im building up a new motor and cleaning stuff up... its probably been sitting for another 2-3 months [&:]
So make sure you have another mode or some other form of transportation just in case.
I think you'll probably be happy with just about any fox thats in decent shape though, mine was slow and the paint doesn't look very good, but i sure do get lots of looks, and compliments for having something other than a ricer.
thats about all the advice i have. Oh as for first mods.... exhaust. if it doesn't already have a good set up.
Goodluck.

Don't worry about souping it up. Make sure it's reliable before you start adding power.

i.e. Mac Catback, replaced redneck sidepipes
new uphoulstry, old stuff was beyond shot.
new top, age/vandals
new tires,
various interior bits, many more to go...
repainted the black exterior trim
dont be discouraged by a shabby interior.... the foxbody interior is notorious for falling apart....
but if you find one with a good motor, one that was well taken care of, she'll go forever...
