overheating

ok i have a problem with my car running too hot goin down the road at 1900 rpms it has a 160 thermostat in it brand new water pump and a/c, power steering, and smog pump are gone i have an electric fan that is running prettyfast and a shroud over it heres a pic


when its sitting still its runs cool let it sit for 10 min. and it was below 165 but comin home 2day from a 13 mile trip it got up to 210 b4 i shut it off

so you have most mod's that help with heat. so sounds like something is broke/off.


idk, i tryed some royal purple ice, or w/e its called.
guys at the local performance shop said they use it in there car and makes it run a consistent 10degrees cooler, might want to try that.



check your water, make sure you dont have to much water.

about all i can think of!

good luck. im working on overheating issues also.

my car used to run way hot with the 347, I bought a fluidyne radiator.. cold as ice now!

If it gets hot at low speed and sitting still, it's probably inadequate cooling system. Something isn't working. If it overheats on the highway, it's usually a blown head gasket.

Most repair shops can do a test of the coolant, looking for byproducts of combustion. If it's +, you need to replace head gaskets.

you can have to much water? my car has never used any water that i remember but could it still be a blown head gasket

wrong wrong wrong!!~! that is not always such the case... It could be a result of a restriction in the cooling system, bad radiator cap, improper dilution of the coolant, and inadequate air flow across the radiator.......so just cause it run hotter on the highway doesn't usually mean it has a blown head gasket...however if you suspect such then buy a block check kit which will test for hydrocarbons in the coolant, which will confirm a blown head gasket

ok i found out 2day that the hose for the vacuum advance was too long and it got caught twice by the tensioner pulley i fixed that and it cooled down some but it still runs too hot i can never get on it anymore and this is the baddest motor so far i need some help!!!
