Default Hmmm. What would you do?

I am torn on which way to go with my motor build. This is what I have:

Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads new
Holley systmax intake new

'74-'77 Ford 351 motor complete

My 93 GT has MM subframe conn, MM uppers and lowers, MM Panhard, Carbon fiber driveshaft and 3.55 rear, Cowl hood, Anderson programmer.

My goal is to have 350 to 400hp at the wheels. I would also like a founadation I can build on later (possible turbo or nitrous).

So the question is: Would you build a 347 Dart or Boss or a 351 based 393 or 408?

I am driving my self crazy adding up the cost of each one. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan

using the 351 will give you room to grow later and a ton more torque

but if you're going with an aftermarket block with 4 bolt splayed(sp?) mains you're good up to probably 800-1500hp so you have room to grow there too.

depends on what you wanna do i guess. i would think that going 351 would end up being cheaper. do you have a budget? i'm sure someone with experience with both will have some more imput for you.

Depends if youre aiming at a driver, strip, track, or a mix. Personally I like to have my vehicles as badass streetburners, Id run with a nice 347 and throw on a low # boost later on. If youre looking for the strip, go 408. Either way the 4 bolt mains are great to have, obviously the latter requiring more. Factory 2 bolts hold for the street machines fine

I want a fast street car. I go to the track less than twice a year right now. I was thinking a 351 based stroker would be just as streetable as any other stroker. I don't know though since I have never had either one.

I am just wanting to build this up over the next year so my budget can go wherever. I would like to spend less than 4 grand on the shortblock though.

Thanks for the reply's.

Yeah a built 351 with a good h/c/i will do you great on the street. I would have done that but Im keeping the smaller cubes to salvage a little mileage out of it (306)

if you have a 351 i'd go that route. stroke it to a 408, get a nice healthy cam, you may have to get better heads tho to support all taht breathing room. some afr 205's or even 225's, or maybe just port yours. with that you should be in excess of 400 hp easily while still being n/a. then throw on a low boost supercharger or something and say goodbye to the termy's

I belive that I am leaning towards a 351. How possible is it to run AC , power steering, and all of the other features that will keep it streetable. I really want everything that I can get out of this car. 400rwhp with all the bells and wistles it came with it including passing emmissions.

the emission part will get harder to pass the more power u reach while trying to keep it streetable

and since u have the holley for a 302 based motor 347 would be were i would head if i were u and i am also heading that way from my 306 as its not enough.lol.

Does anybody have any opinions on the world products short blocks from Summit. They offer 302,349, and 375. They all have thier block and forged cranks, rods, and pistons. they seem real resonable at $4399. The block alone is $2400. They even offer a $300 rebate if you buy before Dec 1.

Just somthing I found. I have never even seen anyone with one.
