Default big block fox overheating???

Me and my dads working on a foxbody and we dropped a 460 in it. We put in a bigger radiator, and have a big flex lite fan on it. Dad wants to make it to where he can drive it on the weekends. But on all our test runs out in the country it always gets hot. We took the thermostat out and it didn't help. There's water flowing thru the radiator when it's running. So what else could cause it? it goes up to 220-230deg. I know the motor has been rebuilt at one time. But I have no idea what they did to it. This cars.. kind of a... son teaching father... on a cheap budget thing. So needless to say.. the stangs rough and it explains using used stuff. I'm not getting any oil in the radiator. Or water in the oil. Neither am I losing oil or water. So I wouldn't think it would be a head gasket. I know when the motor was in the truck before it didn't run hot. The radiator was a used 2. So maybe that's whats wrong. But I flushed it and it seemed to flow pretty good.

make sure the radiator you are using is for the cooling requirements that a 460 demands

Yeah... the radiator's the looks same thickness as what was in the truck. I don't know what it was out of. I just kinda measured the biggest I could fit and called the junkyard. And I told them I wanted 3 or 4 core. Because it was going in front of a big block.

i know you said ur on a budget but i'm sure a fluidyne or becool would really help with the heat.

looks can be decieving, inside core diameter is what'll matter for adequate flow
