Default miata swap and rebuild advice.

my friends got an 03 miata, and well we were talking and getting ideas of swapping in my old 302 into his car. I'm taking the motor to school monday to rebuild it so it'll be a fresh motor. he said theres kits out there for around 3k that include everything for the swap other than the motor/trans. does this sound logical? i mean if we put a gt40 setup on the motor with a light cam, and made like 250 to the wheels, i think the car would hall ***** for sure! anyone read about this or even done it yourself? ideas and advice is appreciated.

also what do you guys think of this rebuild kit? assuming all the block needs is a hone and that the cranks still good, does it look nice? we don't plan on going f/i at all so i figure the hyper pistons would work just fine. ideas and suggestions always welcome on all of this, thanks.

I've seen one or two before, don't need much power since they are light and small

have not seen it with a miata. Seen a 427 in a 280Z as well as an LS1 in a 280Z. Seen many 302's in little rangers and 305 and 350's in the old fiero's. I think it would be fun to drive.

he wouldn't do the cobra swap thing haha. he's on a budget of around 3500, figure the kits like 3 something, and i told him i'd sell him my motor for the price of the rebuild kit since its not doing me any good sitting around and i can't sell it locally.
