Default True or False?

Using the cruise control on the freeway will save you gas because your at a steady speed?

I was riding with my body that has a fox as well and when we got on the freeway he put on the cruise control, when I asked why he said it saves gas.

True or False?

Any and all replys are highly appreciated, thank you.

ive heard that and seen tech articles about that. IMO it adjusts the pedal to much in foxes because its a mechanical throttle cable when i have mine on which i dont use any more it would jerk the car a lot give it gas then no gas give it gas then no gas. I think it could be because of my supercharger but im not sure. the new cars though with electronic control throttle it might help

it is true. constant throttle is the best way to save gas.

it helps along with the a/c at highway speeds rolling the windows down creates drag.

of if its cool enough leave the ac off and just use the vent for more savings

I would have to say that it is True as well...constant speed helps....without the cruise control on I tend to drive too fast...more so when I see a Vette

99% of the time cruise control will save gas, but sometimes it accelerates the car much more than needed for a couple MPH or will downshift on a hill when you might not need it, but other than that keeping the throttle steady is the key.

in my old 97 4.0 explorer i had i gained 3mpg using cruise control everywhere i could after reading a article that said it helped.

but it was nice and smooth, if i use cruise control under 55mph in my stang its to "jerky" such as, no throttle, alot of throttle, no throttle, alot of throttle.

so if im above 55 i use it.
