225-250 rwhp
I just got my motor rebuilt at a machine shop. Its a 89' 302. Bored .030 over with forged pistons and high perfomance cam. Im not real educated in this field but the machinist said I could probably get 225-250 hp rwhp with low cc heads and bolt on accesories. Is that true? If so is that good?, and what about the motor? How many horses do you think it would put out. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Yeah, you are going to need to ask this machinist for the specs on the cam, better yet ask him if he has the cam card. The cam is what gives the engine its personality so you will want to know all this. Also try and find out what compression you'd be running at what CC chamber head. You don't want to get 58CC heads and find out your at 11:1 compression!

Im kinda new at this so bare with me. The cam is from engine works. I got the box with the lifters in it. It reads; Duration@ .050 218/218
Advertised duration 280/280
valve lift .460 .460 lobe center 106/120
Ill have to get back with you on the compression, because honestly I dont know what it is. He also said that I should go with the lowest cc cast iron or alum. heads possible. Im thinking cast iron because of longevity. Any help would be great. Thanks.

the lower cc chamber the higher compression = you'll need to keep total compression ratio wit a cast iron head under 10 to 1 to safely run pump gas without detonation, I'd go aluminum honestly and ditch that sissy cam!!!!!!!!
