crossmember question
I had to grind the welds off of mine when I installed the trans on mine. That is one reason it is called an adjustable crossmember. You will be fine without welding it. Like said already the weight of the trans plus when you bolt it together the brackets will put pressure on them as well.
Not trying to start anything, and like it would matter, but in the instructions it says...
"The Ford Racing crossmember can be adjusted to accommodate most engine/transmission combinations. Just slide the center support on its outer mounting tubes until it lines up with the transmission mounting pad, then mark and weld the tubes to the support." -Summit
... Projectresto83 (<<<EDIT mixed your names up lol), did you buy your cross member brand new in the box welded???? They say they are un-welded to fit different engine and trans combo's.. Again, not trying to start anything, or be a dink, just trying to give advice.

Nope, I got mine from my brother years ago. He had an extra one sitting around. I think it came from a 5.0/t5 combo so I had to cut the welds to get it to bolt to my 306/c4. I am leaving mine unwelded since I may end up going to a 5 speed anyway in the future.
