Default Found a '86 Capri RS by accident...

On my way to getting some snow tires mounted this morning for my wife's Honda Accord, I passed a 1986 Mercury Capri RS, 5.0, 92k miles, T-tops, Cobra Intake, BBK TB, B303 cam, BBK headers & aftermarket exhaust, T-5 / For Sale....Needless to say, I counldn't wait to get the tires mounted....White/Grey with Red interior ...Car was in pretty good shape, asking $$$ was high...I made him an offer, I'll give the guy a few days to think about it!

Yeah, I had an 82 RS, wish I still did. Bought it new, sold it 2 years later w/ 33K on it to buy a Bronco. If only I had known.

...well, if I end up getting the "bubble back", I plan on putting on an LX hatch, tail lights & bumper cover...."bubble back" would be stored in the basement!

^^I cringed a little bit, but due to the rarity of the parts, and the lack of replacement aftermarket parts, that doesnt seem to be that bad of an idea....

If that's what you plan on doing to it, then don't buy it. Either you like the look of the Capri or you don't. Buying that Capri and changing the rear is like buying a Buick G/N and saying you're gonna put a Monte Carlo rear on it. Why take a rare car like the Capri and change the things that make it unique. I understand that you plan on keeping the Capri parts in your basement, but many times once a chage like you're planning takes place, the parts get lost/damaged/sold and the car never gets put back to original. Capris are really starting to die out and the few that are left are either trashed or butchered up with Mustang parts on them. I'm not preaching or trying to be an ***... I just wish people would keep Capris the way they are supposed to look and not mess with them.

LOL I knew debris would come in on that one.

Although I agree that hatchbacks look sick with capri fronts, I wouldnt do the opposite swap.
