Default Your Opinion - 88' Saleen

Hello Everyone,

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1988 Ford Saleen Mustang from a family member and was wondering if you could give me a little info on what you think this car might be worth. It is an Arizona car with less than 40,000 miles on it. I would say it is in Good/Fair condition. It needs a paint job badly as it sat in the Arizona sun for years and is black. It is mechanically in OK conidition. I know the fuel pump was recently replaced on it. He is the 2nd owner and has probably put 3,000 miles on it since it was purchased used in the early 90's.

My questions are...

What do you think it is worth?

How much would a good paint job cost?

What are some typical things to look for on 1988 Mustangs and are there any problems typically associated with them?

How expensive/hard is it to find parts for these cars?

Thanks!

neeed pics, as far as paint depends on how far you want to go with it, it can range from 1500 or so to 5000. need to check for rust, "everywere", mostly around the top of the rear hatch, floor pans, doors, etc.

if you strip the car down and if it is a saleen you want a good paint job it could be anywhere from 6-10 g's. and a saleen is a great collector, they're increasing in value like crazy.

He hasn't exactly figured that out yet. He mentioned today that he thought it might be worth around 12-13 G's if it was in perfect/pristine condition.

It's an Arizona car so there is no rust ( I saw it a few months ago).

Paying 6-10 G's for a paint job is out of the question (and way out of my budget). I am hoping to pay less than 5 thousand for the car alone. I would like to get it running and looking good again but I plan on driving it and not making it a show car. I assume you could get a nice paint job for around $1500!?
