Default Car seems a little rich...

I just recently had my car converted to mass air, upgraded the injectors and used a maf catered to the 24# injectors. Anyways the guy that runs the shop did it and he's specialized in computer and electrical problems, he said he set the fuel pressure to 40 psi but the exhaust seems to smell like its running rich. Is 40 psi too much?

Car: mass air converted, 24# injectors, 70 mm throttle body, longtube headers, e303 cam, 73mm maf (for 24# injectors), 255lph fuel pump

run a koer test, your ecm has the ability to monitior excessive lean/rich conditions and when the o2's detect a rich condition outside preprogrammed parameters then a code will be set...if none exist after a koer test , then you are still in what is called good fuel control

Will this show up when you actually run the codes? is there a simpler way?

if it spits back a rich code on bank 1 or 2 then yes it'll show up, if not then it should be fine.....if you had access to an emissions analizer then you could monitor the tail pipe emissions and based on the hydrocarbons you could see if it were rich or lean

thanks........if there are ranges where it is rich, like lets say at idle or at a certain rpm range, it'll be hard to tune it at those specific ranges unless you had a stand alone tuner that would allow you to alter the maf transfer function at those specific ranges....using the stock ecm about all you can do is make changes via timing and FP, that'll affect the a/f across the board

does the fact that it has 93 octane in it when not needed come into play?

it shouldn't matter what octane you put into it as far as rich/lean conditions
