It's a sb 5.8L 351W base STROKED to 408ci....(W)indsor = small block (C)leveland = big block...way way too much money to stroke a 351C

...If you have concerns, pass, or find a 351W person...

I am not worried about being able to make the motor any larger. My concer is if the motor fails would there be any room left to bore/hone it without the cylinder walls being too thin? I work on Banshee's and this is a common thing when you buy a used bike is that they are bored 80 over and thats about as far as you can safley go on the motor. So I want to cover my tracks and make sure that I am not getting a motor tha is walking on crutches and then the thing blows up and the motor is no good anymore

if the 408 fails most likely nothing will be usable depending on failure, no worry, you'll be fine

if you crack the block or something most likely you could still use most of the stroker kit, rods, crank whole top half of motor, worse comes to worse youll have to find a new block and bore it and get it ready for the stroker kit and maybe some new pistons, really all comes to what could go wrong. But the could is what might not happen and you would have a killer stang with a mean motor.
if your scared to buy it like that you could build one your self, buy the time you get another car to the shape that one might be youll be over what he was asking, its your call

And I'm not too familur with building cars, so I wouldnt really feel like trying to do a full rebuild on my first try. Something like a bike is no big deal, but its 1000 times more simple to rebuild a bike! My worry I guess is coming from seeing 2 strokes lockup and chew the walls of the cylinders, and they got to be bored out. You can go several bores, but its not uncommon to see someone selling a motor that they claim is very reliable and fresh build and all that and the thing fails and its already bord to its max, and now the cylinders are no good. I am also thinking of the motor in the car wrong too. I keep thiking of it as having a top and bottom end rather then the bottom end holding the cyliders and crank.

Clevelands are small blocks and cost a few 100 bucks more for a rotating kit. Myths abound..............

you need to do some research before tackling the task of building 408 or some is going to *** rape you on it.

Doing things twice is a lot more expensive then doing it right the first time just my .02

Yup, and thats unfortunatly learned when building my bike, I built it 3 times before I got it 100% the way I wanted it. Lots of wasted money. So I am asking questions about the car now so I dont do it again.
