Rim color opinions
i have 2 sets of rims right now, the stock 16in "pony" rims and some 17in bullits in silver.
i figured im going to put street tires on the bullits and use the stock rims for the track until i can get some light racing rims like welds or mickey rims and put skinnies upfront.
so the clear coat is coming off the stock rims, i want to fix that, i can either just wet sand it off and re clear or strip it all the way down and paint it a little diff color w/ clear on top.
im thinking some where from black to gunmetal-ish to silver to white, i dont know about the white thing though. any opinions or ideas welcome!
:thanx:

You might as well paint the ponies black. They really don't look that good in any other color than the silver finish they started with. At least not on a black car. Just get the bulitts on there and be done with it.

If you add the base color paint into your clear coat, you will be messing up. Spray what ever base color you want on them and then spray your clear over it. You can add pearls of all colors and even color shifting pearls to your clear coat. Let it sit over night and comeback and see how much dirt is in the clear after it has hardend. If you can live with what is there, don't wet sand it. Rims are a tough to rub out and make them look shiney again. Mostly 100% hand rubbing. You will hate yourself for wet sanding them if you do. If you feel you must wet sand them, start out with 1200 or 1500 grit and go back over them with 2000 grit. And get ready to get your curse on cause you won't be happy with all the manual labor that it takes once you start.
