Default Got a new Stang

So I got a new fox, Its an '89 hatch 5 spd in okay condition, got it for really cheap, the guy wanted $1,900 for it but I got him down to $1,200.

When I went for the test drive it would jerk a little after switching the lower gears.

The guy said it just needed a tune up, but when I got home and really started to look around I noticed that the dumbass that had it before him replaced the stock air box for some ebay asslooking C.A.I. with no MAF sensor.

So my question is can this be the reason and be causing the jerk while shifting?

Thanks for any help guys.

You cant go wrong for a V8 Mustang for that price. You can unplug your mass air flow sensor and your car will run fine. The car runs in open loop and it will suck alot of gas. You need to get a MAFS on it. A tune up may not be a bad place to start sound like a low end miss.

i'm surprised it would run that good with no maf. when i forgot to plug the maf back in on my focus, i went to drive and it wouldn't accelerate, just idle.

that's because it most likely was drive by wire

nope, basically same setup as the mustang. put the pedal to the floor and the rpm's just got a tad higher. but nothing.
