Default battery relocation

How did ya'll run the battery cable.Did ya'll hide it so it wouldn't get hit by nothing while your going down the road or did ya'll leave it exposed that way if something happened to it you could get to the wires and I can get 4 guage wire from work do ya'll think that's thick enough

Alot of people bring the solinoid to the rear as well and the ground will be mounted on the rear frame (not the flimsy body). Other than that yes.

I ran mine inside the car. Used 00 gauge. As Prime stated above, 4 gauge way too small. I left the solenoid under the hood. Too much wiring to move.

Battery and box mounted passenger side of trunk, 00 cable under car along frame connectors, solenoid mounted stock location to keep away from heat. I don't like mounting the solenoid in the trunk because it increases to load on the solenoid dramaticly. Even though I'm using a Powermaster Starter with soliniod I'll tie the energizer wire to the Cable post on the starter and wrap the starter in Thermowrap and use a Ford Style solinoid. having Big Cubic inch engines teaches you what works. I had this same set up on my 540 Street Chevelle (Ford Solenoid and all) and never had a cranking problem. I like the Solenoid in the stock location because it is away from the header heat, allows me to use a remote starter button easy, gives me a good power location an allows me to run the the Cable from the Solenoid to the starter along the oil pan rail where it stays cooler. I'm all for a pretty, clean engine bay but not at the cost of pulling up to get gas only to have one of my cars not to crank. If that happened and any of my buddies were there when it happened they would run a add in the local paper in the announcement section to let everyone know that my car wouldn't crank just to get a laugh. When one of my cars break I never hear the end of it, lol

00 gauge welding wire is the only way to go when relocating your battery. Don't forget the battery cutoff switch. You'll also have to run the alternator wire to the switch if you want it to turn the car off correctly.
