a big problem is that it's auto, honestly, i drove a stock auto 5.0 fox vs my old 88 with a 5 spd when it was stock and MAN was there a difference.
if you're gonna keep the auto you should get a shift kit and a good stall converter. that should help that auto out a lot.

i agree with him, then again you dont have to look away from a 94-95 block either lol
but finding a 87-95 5.0 will be better all in all. the main reason being, 86 blocks, 1 had awful heads like what has been stated, 2 since those heads had the valves recessed higher in the head, they have flat top pistons, which will cause ptv issues with just about ANY heads, even the factory E7 heads that came on 87-95

shedding a few pounds off of it never hurts... if you want power/speed and dont care much about comfort...check out the weight reduction thread

fiberglass hood/decklid

ditch all the A/C and smog stuff, tubular K-member.... etc....

That was my problem... bought a 94 gt auto .... gutless! modded civics were kickin my ***! lol so ya... i'm building a 331 stroker at the moment... should wake it up a bit If I were to do it again I probably would have just saved up my money initially for the stroker! With all the other stuff I threw into it before, I could have built the new engine easily! good luck!

Before i put the gears in, i was beat by a 2000ish prelude =[

He lives close to me, so i easily toasted him with the gears and dr's. 3k launch and he didnt catch me till i left off.... then it was his ricer fly by.

Swapping the 7.5 for the 8.8 with the limited slip and 4.10's did wake it up alot. I put the stock tires on for fun and i could roast both of them on command.

Im sure if it was a 5speed car it would seem alot faster, but im stuck with a 3 speed slush box for now.

Another thing is i have not driven any other 5liter mustangs, or raced one. So who knows, i could be just as fast/slow as everyone else.
