No "Tubular" upper GT 40 intakes came stock on the Mustang, offered by what is now known as FRPP, & also "Tubular" no longer made!...The '93 Cobra & '94/95 Cobra came with a Cast "Cobra" upper intake...all the lowers GT 40 intakes the same...

Depending on the application of your car (any power adders), I could see the Cobra GT 40 intake picking up 15-20 hp over a stock '87-93 LX or GT 5L intake...

yes the 351 lightning had the tubular upper, youll just need to pick up the lower thats from a 302 and be good to go.

Is the lightning intake better than a explorer and will it clear the stock hood?
Also what do you do for a throttle body? Were the lightnings a dual throttle body?

dont quote me..but if i remember lookin at the charts the tubular one flows a little better than the explorer..as for the throttle body, just use the one that you have now and it will bolt into place..theres a few members on here running them..i think one has a red fox with stock hood, iirc.

Thats cool. I found one but it is in canada. Hard to tell what shipping would be. The only drawback of a lightning intake would be people would think you have a 5.8 instead of a 5.0 because of the lightning emblem on the intake.

The intake plaque is easily changed and the shipping doesn't matter. The tubular is the best looking intake IMO and performs great.
