Talking EPIC DEAL! Im psyched!

Its been a long time coming that ive been looking to get a T5.

today i had nothing to do but a few errands and out of sher bordem i got on craigslist to see what was being sold.

found a add selling a bunch of different parts, including a procharger set up, but what caught my eye at the last second was a blown up T5....FOR FREE.

ended up to be the same guy i bought my nitrous kit off of, i went to his place for the free T5 and cheap clutch. this is what i left his house with, and the price i payed VS new!

-steeda tri-ax t-5 short throw shifter--------- i payed 100.00 NEW $170
thing looks fresh out of the box.

-mcleod clutch for a t-5 rated at 500hp ----- i payed 175.00 NEW $380
i dont know clutch's, but it looks intact

-bbk shorty ceramic coated headers(94-95 emissions fitting option) i payed125.00 NEW$300
looks brand new, he said they have 1000miles (i still have stock headers on my car)

-2.5" mac cat-back exhaust i payed 100.00 NEW$300
looks brand new (i have stock pipe cat back, with flow masters welded in)

-t-5 trans(told it was a world class) blown,make noise,good for shell or parts-free
casing looks intact, he told me power shifting from 2nd to 3rd it grenaded, his car is making just over 400rwhp, turboed 302 fox

t-5 bell housing ,clucth fork, throw out bearing, block plate----free Trans and bell housing etc $200

i figure if you where to pull a T5, bellhousing, block plate, throw out bearing, clutch fork, etc from a junkyard, they would charge you $100-200, i got em for free!

so all and all, i saved alot of money, and i have most the part's for my AOD to T5 swap!

trying to think what other part's i need.......

prob going to buy a new yoke, aluminum driveshaft, heavy duty u-joints, i need a heavy duty transmission mount, shifter boot & ****, going to re-use the crossmember, need the heavy duty clutch cable, adjustable clutch linkage, and pedals.....

i think thats all i need.....

LET ME KNW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK, and if you have any advice to help me out.

imma see what a local guy wants to rebuild the transmission, but most likely im sending it to "Promotion powertrain" to be built.

open up the trans and lets see if its worth workin with

other than that looks like you did good. you'll need a clutch pedal set up, cable, quadrant, firewall adjuster, and clutch alignment tool

get the flywheel resurfaced and...i would never buy a used clutch, thats the only thing i wouldnt have bought. but in either case good deal if it works out

yes you can. if all that needs to be done is the main shaft then you can do it in 2 hours with a rebuild kit.

simple hand tools is all thats needed if all you're doing is the main shaft. if you need to mess with the counter shaft you'll need access to a shop press and dial indicator.

in order to peer into the case you need to remove the shifter. on the shift block there is a pin, you need to drive that through the shift block.

remove the shift block, pin, spring and ball(do not lose these!!)

then unbolt the tail shaft all the way around the trans case, then pull that off, you have to pull on it kinda hard to get the shift linkage through the hole.

then you can remove the 8 or so bolts around the top of the trans case. slide the cover left or right(cant remember which way) and then lift, the shift forks and cover will come off with ease

take pics and let us look!

it'll take you all of 10-15 minutes to open it up.

draining the fluid right now, gonna let it sit overnight.

some pictures of the other goodies

MAC catback i put on already
let me tell you, these mac's are leaps and bounds better then the flowmasters i had!!!

really enjoying the sound, but the nice tailpipes are tucked away a little to much, so im most likely going to pay someone to weld .5" to 1" more onto the tailpipes to get them to stick out like the stock pipes did.
