Default What do you think about this????

http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/981441104.html

I am thinking of buying it as my first mustang, I am a mechanic but I need some advice as I have not dealt with ford's 5.0L yet.

I usually deal with eco-boxes as that is what most people drive but I would like to educate my self as much as possible.

I drive a ford windstar and it has given me 208,000 miles of trouble free service and I love all of fords products.

Explain something to me: he says it needs a MAF sensor, what does this engine use to controll the a/f ratio if it doesnt have one?? A MAP sensor??

And why would the cam he installed cause it to not idle correctly??

Thanks, Windstar

yes its still speed density(map sensor). Needto convert to mass air so the air/fuel raton will be correct.

Thats pure luck on a 3.8L Windstar, by now you should have gone through three transmissions.

The car is a speed density motor which doesn't accept mods as well as mass air does. That cam will cause it to have a wierd idle with a SD setup. Don't get me wrong SD can kick some *** but alot of people convert to mass air. Its a decently cheap modification and will do that car well. It doesn't need a cold air to dial anything in. the stock inlet is a cold air setup and works really well. For the price it is a great buy.

Lol yea the trans was rebuilt once and it slips in third sometimes, just out of curiosity what is worng with the design that causes the transmissions to fail so often???
