Not really, lol I had a Falcon with a 289 that I raced. I did as much as I could do to it buying about everything Holman & Moody had on the shelf at that time and was getting my behind cut at the track. I moved from there into FE block Fords and then into Small Block Chevys. Thats when I started winning big time. It was hard to find a good set of heads back in the 60's and 70's. It wasn't so much that one engine was better than the other but more a parts availablity matter. Back then Pontiac engines were a more popular engine to build than a 289.
this may be a stupid question but since the large valve seats will be cut soon. do i work the bowls out now or after the new seats are cut? the reason i ask is because i dont want to risk ruining the new seat being cut. of course ill do the same as i did with the other ports. i made a jig to ensure i did not go larger than i wanted. but still...things happen. what do you guys says? work the bowls before or after the valves are cut in?
