why would my car shut off while it's idling. The check engine light is on but it will idle and then it'll act like it will shut off and then rev high. It'll do that a coupla times and then it will shut off.My guess would be the tps but give me some ideas as to what it could be If ya'll don't mind

just go to autozone. they have a code reader for OBD1 thats $35. you dont need a jumper wire, you dont need a mulitmeter and you dont need to count flashes on a test light. you hook up the two connectors that are near the firewall driver's side, turn it on and hit the test button. it does the test and gives you a digital number for the codes it finds. also comes with a book so you can see what those codes mean

hm... you try simple things like testing TPS volt? unplugging IAC to see if it makes a difference? checked for vac leaks? do you have an adj fpr or a fp guage to check lack of fp or pressure leak down?

but yea, get a code reader or do the jumper wire. the codes will get you in the right area instead of guessin all weekend.
