And with it I was able to go pay the machine shop and pick up my block.

Looks a little better eh? I'm ordering a bunch of stuff from Summit this weekend(pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump, oil pan) and whatnot so I should be able to start throwing this thing together here real soon so stay tuned to this thread for updates.

Didnt surface the deck? I would have highly recommended to tap those 3 oil galley plugs, be a shame if one popped out and lost oil pressure. Seen it too many times. I am rebuilding a 289 for a guy because one popped out.
He didn't deck it, but he cleaned them up and checked them for straightness. The guy wouldn't steer me wrong, this isn't the first time I've dealt with him and he is THE guy to go to around here for any kind of engine work. He probably builds 90% of the race engines in this area. As far as those oil galley plugs, yeah I was thinking about those and I might do it myself or take it back and have him do it when I take the crank and rods down.
Its just standard procedure. Going to have to wash the block again as well, and make sure you dont go too deep on the plug on the drivers side as it goes right into the lifter bore. The decks are straight enough for a stock type mild build but they are warped, I machine them every day and its amazing what you cant see with the naked eye. Good Luck with the build
