Default sn95 5.0 Strength

Just rebuilt my 130k mile engine with new bearings, rings, and ARP fasteners. Has the complete Holley SysteMax II H/C/I. Looking into supercharging after the break-in. How much can this motor take boost/horsepower wise without jeopardizing the internals?

When you rebuilt it, did you use forged pistons or stay with stock-style hypereutectics? You should be able to run forced induction either way, but you can expect to get away with more on a motor with forged pistons. The thing with hyper pistons is that they're a helluva lot less detonation tolerant than forged pistons. Detonation is never good, but if you're running a bunch of boost and your tune is off, you'll likely detonate some. Rattling it under those circumstances with hyper pistons is likely to result in shattered pistons, while doing it with forged pistons will probably give you enough time to hear it and back out before you break stuff.

Like I said, you can run forced induction either way, but expect to run somewhat less with hyper pistons and to have less of a safety net with them also. I personally would not let having hyper pistons stop me from running it. Hell, my '94 cobra has had a paxton on it since 1995, and it's still doing fine internally.

Completely stock rotating assembly. Federal Mogul stock replacement rings, ARP Main Studs, and ARP Rod Bolts. Clevite main and rod bearings.

Well, in the event of a failure your pistons would be in the oilpan well before you broke anything else! I don't have a specific number for you on what it'll take, but I'd imagine at least 8 to 10 lbs would be ok as long as you don't rattle it.

So a V-1 S-trim Vortech running 6-8 psi would be well within the engine's limits? And by rattling it you mean running it hard with hard shifts?

Boost doesn't kill engines, horse power does.

By rattling it I mean pinging or detonation. You'll get that when you run it too lean and/or advance the timing too far.

you could go 13-14 psi as long as you dont beat on it to the 14psi every day.

What would be a good timing setting for 8 psi boost and also what fuel pressure/injectors should I run? I am currently running FRPP 24 lb injectors at roughly 40 psi fuel pressure. I have an adjustable FPR right now as well.

i would think atleast 42lb inj and 255 lph fuel pump and it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the fuel lines as well
