Default I'm a little worried about the race against my friends vette

Alright so heres the deal. i have a buddy who wants to race me. As we all like to do, i talked a lot of crap to him since he drives a chevy and me a ford. lol. And i wasn't to worried tell he threw on a set of vortech heads, a cam and some intake (i think 750).

His car is a 1978 t-top chevy with a 350 pace car with all the stuff mentioned above.

I figured with the heads cam and intake i put on it would have been a somewhat close race against a stock 350 with stock heads and stuff, but know that he threw the other stuff on i'm a little worried. i fig he sittin around 400-425 hp and me maybe 300 hps.

He won't let me throw a 100 shot on until we run the first time so thats out of the question. i've taken a lot of the stuff out of the car so i fig i'm at 3150 pounds and he's at 2700 w/o drivers maybe.

i plan on buying some sticky tires (any suggestions?) putting adjustable rear control arms on and sub frame connectors on before the race. my mods are in the sig, thanks cuz as you can see i need some help

It would be a good race but he would probably get you. But yours is a street car and his sounds like a track car used on the street. With the suspension mods and stickies you would be close though.

well depending on which year motors hes got..if its from a 78 pace car then it only had 220 HP stock..with a h/c/i I doubt he gained another 200 hp..unless hes got a ton of other mods I didn't catch..the race should be pretty close.

L48 and L82; 185,220 respectively.

Even with those vortech heads he probably has a paultry 9.2ish static comp. That cam wont help dynamic comp either. Its not that agressive of a head, albeit much better than the stock 78 heads. The 78 car was very heavy compaired to the previous years due to the glass hatch. I would think his weight is about similar to yours if not slightly more. He also has an IRS with a retarded spring system so he will have a fun time getting power to the ground on street tires.

Get some mt's and rock.

I think Vortech heads were casted as 170 intake runers, atleast my vortech heads had them. I think it should be a god race. Without seeing both cars, it would be hard to tell who would come out on top. Some MT radials would be sure to give you an advantage anyhow.
