This is just general about you (or technically, us I guess) 5.0 guys. I've never had a single problem with any of the pushrod Mustang boys. As you are all aware - I am an avid GM fan, but share my love for Ford as well (and even Dodge, although I am not sure if I'd own one.. but this is a lie, and chances are I will at some point.) That being said - I have only had problems with kids who own the newer generation Mustangs, specifically the 4.6's. It's VERY rare I run into a 4.6 Stang that will actually be cool about things and not throw their nose up in the air like they are better than me. I've never quite understood the hatred, but it's fairly obvious in OT because they are mostly all the same as well. Never had a problem with anyone in here OR in OT that has a 5.0, though.

So the question is - what do you think spurs this kind of behavior? I honestly have been stuck on this for awhile. I don't see any reason to hate someone for their car anyways, but aren't we all on the same team here to begin with? We all like American muscle, right? Yeah there's been rivalry yadda yadda for a long time, but I have never understood why there has to be a problem. I've only met ONE nasty GM guy, and he owned an LT1 of which he no longer owns. I assume he wrecked it. Hell half of the guys in these forums here fight eachother, many of which downtalk the 5.0 guys. I've never came close to experiencing this in all the F-body forums I'm registered on, and this goes for personal experiences as well.
I love my Mustang, but my Camaro is my #1 and always has been, even with the mess of other cars I have. I can see identity as being a source of the problem, but it's amazing how much serious hate there is for GM from the Ford community.. most of which comes from heresay, and not actual personal experience. Just curious what you all have seen. I am not pointing my finger at anyone as I love all muscle cars, but this is something I've continually observed that is very unique to the Ford guys.

 

I think the modular guys are jealous for one. Their early 4.6 cars doesn't have enough power to pull a greasy string out of a cats ***. That is Fords fault, not mine, yours or anyone else who chooses to drive different cars. I own two GM vehicles that are my wife and I's daily drivers. I drive an ext cab truck and she drives a big ol Suburban. Both have the 5.3L engines and perform for us very well with just about zero trouble. I am a car guy, not a Ford, Chevy, Mopar or even AMC guy. Even though I'd like to have a 390 AMX, I doubt I will ever own one. I have a buddy of mine that owns a diesel truck car hauler full of Mustangs and 1 99 model Lightning. He can be a stuck up A-Hole at times to, it changes with what car he drives. I don't know what some people are thinking when they wake up in the morning. As far as the 4.6L guys talking smack about us 5.0L guys, shoot, I could care less, let them talk all the garbage they want to. 99 out of 100 I could put on the trailer motor for motor anyhow. The bull$hit stops when the amber lights drop.

I know exactly what your talking about. Its the same with LS1 **** too.

What spurs this nonsense? They are ricers, plain and simple...ricers that bought some v8 car and think that because SOMEONE makes one fast that THEIRS is fast too. They feel that they are superior to just about everybody. They infuriate me all of them. This used to be the Fox mustang and gen 3 fbody croud (who to a large extent still are, just the poor ricers). Anytime you stick a kid behind the wheel of a car that goes relitively fast, they think THEY did something. Bolt on a couple parts they feel like they now have the knowledge to give advice when they really no nothing besides how to remove and replace bolts. I could care less if I ever get beat by these kids, and I do consistantly because....I may run a slow number, but atleast I generally know my **** and im not a ***.

Any random idiot that follows up the rear of something everyone else does doesnt deserve to give their oppinion. You followed a resepie....nothing more.

They think foxes are older pos cars. And they are just white trash poor guy cars, when really, the 5.0's are so much simpler and cheaper to build IMO, I don't really hate on any other mustang bodys, personally I'd LOVE a nice new edge, they look so amazing from behind,





Of course I'd have to figure out a way to shove a 5.0 into it

 

jealousy is all it is, about the only thing they can do to make their rides fast is supercharge them, how many of them can or even have a clue how to swap cams or even done it in a 4v cobra motor....

 

it all comes down to money... they think they are so much better than us because they had the money to buy something newer.

I think the hate between GM and Ford is mutual. I'm not saying all GM guy's are bad but alot of them like brag and brag and their stuff and it is nothing special. My neighbor is one of the biggest GM fans and he has a GMC truck with a 5.3 with flowmaster's and he thinks it is the baddest thing to hit the streets, and alot of GM fans have this attitude. I joined a forum that is specific to the Mod motors and that forum also you can use your user name on a LS1 forum and vice versa. I quit going on it because the LS1 guys were constantly coming over to the Mod forum and bashing the Mods, even in the tech section. I'm not saying all GM guys are bad and I'm not saying all Ford guys are good, there are good and bad in both. The same goes for the 5.0 guys and the Mod guys. Like you said we are all American Muscle fans. I am not the biggest GM fan but I would rather someone drive a GM than a ricer.

 

Well I hope your neighbor burns in hell. Anyone who acts like an asshat with a GM vehicle doesn't deserve to own one. I think Ford and GM make great cars, but maybe it's power that drives people to be so distinctly and brutally assertive on other people's self-esteem about what they have.
I think if anything bothers me most, it's when someone throws out that idiotic "Ford sucks because they break down all the time" and it makes me want to kick someone in the face. I hear that from some of the people I know and it makes me wish I knew more Ford guys.
I know alot of you guys don't think about this much probably, but I think this is something I've noticed really hindering how we interact together. There's a place called Hallstreet around here, and I remember even the Ford and GM guys won't sit in the same spots in the parking like. They split apart like racists or something. It's pretty sad, but I guess it's possible that alot of it has to do with that type of people being associated with.

Either way, I extend my appreciation for you all. Not to sound overly sentimental, but it's nice seeing something different on the road that can kick my *** and I can still have fun getting stomped when the time comes. That and Mustangs really are the best sounding cars ever I personally think. Nothing else comes even close.
