Well im working on two assumptions here. One that 1.8 is your installed height, and two that bind is just under 1.3.

Any numbers for those

I'll admit, you've surpassed my intellect.

Would you mind explaining it to me?

springs need to be matched to the cam and set up per cam manufactorers specs not some generic "will work up to .550 lift"

The only info you have on the springs are: pressure @ 1.8 and 1.3.

You also need installed height and bind height to begin to start picking your spring.

Assuming your installed height is 1.8 and bind is arround 1.3 you have .5 lift available. Your cam is .54, with a tollerance level of .05 you want a minimum of .59 or .6 between installed and bind.

The pressure could be a little better compressed too. Id say arround 310-320 would be just about perfect.

Thank you, I still don't fully understand all the numbers but I'll try to do my homework.

For what its worth; Tri State were the ones who mounted/chose these springs. The Gt40p's were bought new last year and only have 800 km's on them. I figured I wouldn't have to replace them since they're "brand new".

Its not a question of new or old, its a question of is this the proper spring for your application.

I could have a cam that has .650 lift and an opperating range up to 8000, and if i were to use a spring that had an installed height of 2 and a bind at 1.5 I would be quite F'd because the spring would bind and snap. Say bye bye valve and piston unless you have a retaining spring in there. (Ask me why I know and I'll show you some pritty pictures) Say that spring also has an open pressure of 250 lbs, well thats not going to do me much good at 8000 rpms. Its going to give me some valve float well before then, so I wont be making any more power up there anyhow.

don't the P heads need mac headers? or will the Bbk 1 5/8" shorty equal length headers work?
