Default cutting hole in hood

I want to cut a round hole in my hood so the 5x14" air cleaner can stick out on my 90.. has anyone done this before? Im worried about making jagged edges and it looking like crap

Put a shapend stud in the carb and close the hood down eazy until the hood dimples. Lay the air cleaner on top of the hood and scribe a circle around it. Then take a drill and drill a 3/8 hole 1/2 inch off the circle. Take a jigsaw and cut the hole 1/2 inch bigger than the scribed hole all the way around. clean up the hole with a die grinder to get the rough edge off. Then take some RTV and place under the hood bracing wher you cut it and it's loose and clamp it and let sit overnight (no rattles under hood that way). I did mine and put a 83 scoop on mine and opened up the front. It has a very suttle and factory look to it.

most of the factory paint removed and hole cut

Scoop on and 3 cans of Rustoleum gloss black later

On the car looking bone stock from the outside. It will be very unsuspecting

Same Car,Same hood same scoop but beroe cutting the hole. It looks the same other than the scoop is open in the front now. How's that for suttle?

It will look like Chit without some kind of cover. I have a friend with a 393 in his 91. He did the same thing but used a 2002 scoop I had in the shop. Looks nice

Just remembered his car was in Modified Mustangs during Mustang week here this year. Here are a few photos from the article. I had those wheels custom made from American Racing for him. Runs pretty nice. BTW its an 89 not 91
