If it's going in an all out drag car, then by all means, I wouldn't build anything but a solid roller engine. I was assuming you were inquiring about a street car. Not that they can't be run on the street, but they will effect power brakes, regardless what Woodsy says. I have seen it happen to many times If it is going on a street car of yours, do yourself a favor and go ahead and invest in a vacuum canister.
Not to start an argument but Woodsy is correct, vaccum is not an issue when the solid cam is taylored for such, Lobe seperation and or overlap can be made such that you can have a true streetable set up with a solid roller cam, and once lash is set hot, maybe recheck it every 10k = minimal......the reason you have seen what you have is many grab the wildest OTS SOLID CAM they can and mismatch parts to the build, I'd rather spend little extra money on a billit solid roller cam with proper valvetrain hardware then screw around with looking for a place to mount a vaccum pump and canister, much less find the space and in the end I most likely will have a far more streetable and faster car then the one that sounds faster.....trust me..seen that one before.
