motor mounts

I found a few sites for ya to read. I didnt read them all the way through just skimmed them so hope they have some info for you to make your decision.

Other articles I have read say that Solid motor mounts transfer a lot of engine vibration to the chassis and into your seat, meaning you feel it more. Urethane calm this vibration but also allow for some wheel hop. I hope someone can confirm or deny these claims I have read but that is the general consensus between the sites I have read. I hope this helps some for ya.

chaoss hit it on the head. Solid mounts are very strong, but you will have a lot of vibration transfer through them to the chassis, and you will definitely notice the vibrations inside the car. Urethane are stronger than stock type mounts but still retain the stronger qualities of a solid mount, with less vibration.

Solid mounts arn't that bad. I ran them in my street chevelles for years. It's when the exhaust barely hits the underside of the car do you actually get that harmonic disturbance thats so annoying. The engine firmly bolted into the car doesnt do that because it doesnt rattle. If an engine is properly balanced it can rattle car alarms off in a parking lot and not shake the car. I've driven cross country in cars with solid motor and trans mounts. It's a non issue if the car is built right. My motorcycles have the engines bolted solid in the frame. It's a non issue in those as well. I would have put solid mounts in the car I'm building now if I hadnt had a set of energy suspension mounts sitting on the shelf.

That is just my opinion, 10 years ago I would not have minded solid mounts but I guess I am at a age that comfort is starting to take position over performance. Even with my long tubes and 3 inch off road x-pipe I think it's a bit much for the street anymore.

lets not oversee the obvious pro and con solid mounts like $40 bucks if even that and poly urethane are about $140 give or take...so thats a decidin factor for me(with a kid and mortgage payments) but i stuck with just stock mounts and they will work fine.
