Default 5 speed trans

Should I have my 89 GT trans repaired ( synchronizers) or just buy another one?

syncros are bad or blocker rings? if syncros are bad that will get expensive in a hurry cause you have to replace the entire gear. if the blocker rings are bad and need to be replaced you can do that yourself easily maybe borrow some tools and would be much cheaper. IMO if hte syncs are bad get a different T5 thats undamaged or go TKO.

I just assumed it was the synchronizers, its hard to shift into 2nd and 3rd gear, sometimes it wont go into either one of them.

Any way to tell if it is the syncros or the "blocker rings" without tearing it apart? I guess it could be the clutch also.

What is the TKO ?

you need to pull the tail shaft off and pop the trans cover off and asses the damage. no other way to accurately tell whats wrong without opening it. but sounds like a deffinate rebuild, possible syncro issue or even damaged gears.

a TKO is a heavy duty transmission. holds up to a lot abuse but has a pretty price tag too.
