motor has been sittin. any good???? Zollner corp
I have a chance to get 2 5.0 motors . here' the scoop
the guy worked at Zollner corp in fort wayne IN (they made/pistons and other stuff) for some time before they closed shop here in town. he said they got crate motors from ford and used them as test dummies, and whatnot. well after they were done they either scrapped the bad or sold the good and leftover motors to the employees. he said he paid $xxxx for both and that these were unused motors. he was gonna try to sell them for a profit but didnt end up doing anything with them. he didnt seem to know much about motors or the like.
he bought them in 02', they sat in a garage for 2yrs then ended up in his drive since then. the one motor does turn with a wrench on it, cant get to the other front.
I believe they are from an explorer as the heads have 4 bars. they are still(partially) in a crate but have been sitting on the oil pan for some time. but it still seems solid.
Q1.after sitting for so long without fluids what issues will i have? seals, gaskets, rings, internal rust.....
Q2. are these shortblocks any different than one from a 88 mustang? the 88 is what i was gonna use for my roller build. (306 for now 347 later with $$)
Q3. can the ignition coils, elec harnesses be sold for anything? or could the coil pack be used in my build instead???
Q4. what else am i missing
thanks

the intakes can be sold for some beans, but the explorer motors I believe had lower compression pistons than a h.o mustang engine, as for selling any coils or misc stuff, = throw them away = no money to be had in trying to sell them = will cost you more to sell littl stuff like that than you'll make

The intake is internally the same as the Cobra intake. Just remove the TB elbow. I have one on my car. Works good with my #-303 and 70MM TB/EGR.
Not the best out there, but better than stock for a cheap *** like myself.
Stock Ho 5.0 vs Explorer intake

You will need to use your front timing cover and such I believe, since the SN-95 and Explorers use a shorter version to fit the engine in the bay.
I'm not sure if they have forged pistons like the 87-92 HO engines. I know the 93 went to those Hyper-whatever pistons.
I'd like a set of those heads if they are not P heads.
